This three day workshop will bring you to the sunshine-filled historic town of Key West, providing a backdrop of color and light to paint by. We will paint outside, working on perspective, values, and getting paint down fast and loose to catch the spontaneity of the moment. Palm trees, quaint architecture, beaches and more will be our subjects, and The Studios of Key West our gracious hosts. We will have a meet & greet cocktail night before we start the class, lunches delivered to us, and sunset tours.

SCHEDULE
Night Before: Meet & Greet Night
DAY1:
9am Meet up at The Studios of Key West and I will demo talking about values using a limited palette. This is a great way to start mixing your colors and learning how the primaries work. Catching the scene in quick small paintings helps capture the light and shadows..
Lunch
1-3:30 Paint on location. Critique (& drinks) after
OPTIONAL: 7ish Meet at the harbour for the Sunset at Mallory Square.
DAY 2:
Meet at the harbour, set up while I demo and discuss perspective. Simplify the mystery of all those lines and vanishing points to make your paintings believable. We will do simple exercises to strengthen your skills.
Lunch delivered
1-3:30 Paint on location
OPTIONAL: 7-8:30 pm Evening painting for those interested. We will tuck ourselves away in a corner and catch the evening light in Old Town.
DAY 3:
Location to be announced. Demo first thing talking about how important values and composition are to make your paintings strong. We will paint in the morning, then have lunch delivered. The afternoon will be painting and then meet up at the Studios of Key West to critique our three days together.
